Bancroft Public Transport Survey

Bancroft Deserves More Than Just Cheap Fares - Our Community Needs More Bus Services
Labor’s 50 cent public transport fares were a game-changer - an investment by the former Labor State Government that proved when public transport is affordable, people will use it.
For thousands of residents in Deception Bay, North Lakes and Burpengary, 50 cent fares made public transport a real option. But locals are telling me that affordability alone isn’t enough. After all, what good is a cheap ticket if there’s no reliable service to catch?
Right now, the people of the Bancroft electorate are stuck in a transport dead zone. Only 3.7% of locals travel to work by public transport – not because they don’t want to, but because the system simply doesn’t work for them.
Residents tell me services are too infrequent, routes fail to connect key areas, and bus travel times can’t compete with cars. The numbers don’t lie: while Brisbane gets its Metro and the Gold Coast expands its light rail, Bancroft is being left behind.
Here’s the reality: Moreton Bay is one of the fastest-growing regions in the country. Another 150,000 people are expected to move here by 2031, yet public transport infrastructure hasn’t kept up.
The former Labor Government took an important first step by making public transport affordable. Now, it’s time to finish the job.
In June this year, David Crisafulli and the LNP will introduce their first Queensland Government budget. Now is the time to make your voice heard.
I’m asking locals to speak up and demand their fair share. Because without better public transport, congestion will worsen, emissions will rise, and we’ll be stuck in the past while other regions move forward.
