Moreton Bay is one of the locations for a Queensland Government initiative that focuses on both domestic violence and homelessness.

$8 million has been allocated to develop and pilot a new service delivery model to integrate support for victim-survivors experiencing homelessness due to domestic and family violence (DFV).

“When you get people who face both domestic violence and homelessness, it becomes even more important to get face-to-face support for these Queenslanders,” said Chris Whiting MP

“What this pilot program will do is employ nine specialist workers called Housing Connectors across Toowoomba, Brisbane and Moreton Bay.

“These specialist Housing Connectors will assist Queenslanders navigate the systems that are there to help them.

“They will also help with housing and support referrals.

“There will also be a Rental Assist Brokerage Grant available to existing funded organisations to cover rental arrears or debts that pose an imminent risk of homelessness,” said Chris Whiting MP.

Organisations will be able to apply through Smartygrants when the round opens in the coming weeks, available here.
