Local schools will finally be able to get funding for their school breakfast programs, thanks to the 2023-2024 Palaszczuk State Budget, said Chris Whiting MP.

$2.7 million has been allocated over two years to extend and expand school breakfast programs.

“School breakfast programs are such a crucial and underappreciated part of our school landscape,” said Chris Whiting MP.

“I have visited breakfast programs at Deception Bay North State School and Moreton Downs State School recently.

“I was able to see how kids, parents, support staff and teachers interact as young students get the food and energy they need for a good day’s learning.

“The breakfast program now runs five days a week at Deception Bay North State School as it is seen as so crucial for the success of students.

“I am really keen to see funding extended to all our local state schools’ breakfast programs and I will be working to make sure we are included in this ground-breaking Budget initiative,” said Chris Whiting MP.
